Before you arrive.
Getting Here
We're based in Colorado City, Texas (about 70 miles west of Abilene, off I-20). The closest major airports are Lubbock, Midland, and DFW — reach out and we'll help you plan the drive.
Lodging
We offer ranch barndominiums and lake houses on Lake Champion for $75 per person, per night. Some multi-day hunts (turkey, whitetail, aoudad) include lodging in the base price — see each hunt page for details.
Licensing
Every hunter needs a current Texas hunting license and any required stamps (e.g. federal duck stamp, upland game bird stamp). For current requirements and season dates, see the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department site.
Seasons
Dove (Sept–Oct), duck (Nov–Jan), sandhill crane (winter), Rio Grande turkey (spring), whitetail (fall/winter), aoudad (year-round), thermal hog & predator (year-round). Specific dates vary year to year — check TPWD.
What to Bring
Appropriate firearm and ammunition, camouflage or earth-tone clothing for the hunt and weather, layering for cool mornings, broken-in boots, valid license and stamps. We'll send a detailed packing list once you're booked.
Meals
Meals aren't included in the base price on most hunts — Colorado City has solid options close to lodging. Ask us for recommendations when you book.
Good questions, plain answers.
What hunts and trips do you offer?
Dove, duck, sandhill crane, Rio Grande turkey, free-range whitetail deer, free-range aoudad, thermal hog & predator hunts, plus year-round trophy bass fishing on Central Texas waters. Full details and pricing are on each pursuit page.
Where are the hunts?
All hunts operate out of Colorado City, Texas, across more than 100,000 acres of private ground — farms and ranches we own, manage, or have long-term partnerships on.
Do I need a Texas hunting license?
Yes. Every hunter needs a valid Texas hunting license. Waterfowl hunters also need a federal duck stamp and any current state migratory bird stamps. We recommend checking tpwd.texas.gov for current requirements before you travel.
What season is each hunt?
Dove: September–October. Duck: November–January. Sandhill crane: winter. Turkey: spring. Whitetail: fall/winter. Aoudad and thermal hogs: year-round. Exact dates vary — please confirm with TPWD's current season calendar.
How do I book?
Click "Book a Hunt" on any page to use our secure booking widget, or send us a message and we'll get back to you. A phone call is welcome too — (817) 994-6112.
What's included in the price?
It depends on the hunt. Some hunts (turkey, whitetail, aoudad) include lodging. Dove, duck, crane, and thermal hogs price the hunt and lodging separately. Every pursuit page breaks down exactly what's in the base rate.
What's your cancellation policy?
Please reach out and we'll walk you through the deposit and cancellation terms for your specific hunt.
Can I bring a non-hunting guest?
Yes. Please let us know in advance so we can plan lodging and in-hunt logistics.
Do you offer fully-guided options?
Our turkey and whitetail hunts are semi-guided by default, but you can add a fully-guided experience for $250 per day. Dove, duck, crane, aoudad, and thermal hunts are guided.
What if I have questions not answered here?
Call Joe directly at (817) 994-6112 or email us. We'd rather answer a question than have you worry about it before the trip.
